OSBooster's Configuration Screen

A. Power off button. Pressing this button will bring up the same dialog that appears when the power off button on your Macintosh keyboard is pressed. You may select Cancel, Restart or Shut Down.

B. Monitor Resolution popup menu. Select the display resolution you want to use when running your chosen application.

C. Monitor Depth popup menu. Select the bit depth you want to use when running your chosen application.

(Together, the Monitor Resolution and Monitor Depth describe a 'Display Mode'.)

D. Browse button. Pressing this button brings up a familiar choose file dialog. You should select the application you want to run under OSBooster.

E. Free Memory field. This field displays the amount of free memory OSBooster recommends leaving when running your chosen application.

You may change this figure, however choosing a setting that is too small may cause your application to malfunction or crash. See chapter 4 for guidance on changing this setting.

F. OK button. This button is enabled when a valid application has been chosen. Pressing OK will launch that application under the settings shown above.

G. Finder button. Pressing this button will remove the OSBooster configuration screen and launch the Finder.

H. Currently selected application (we refer to this as the 'blessed application').

I. Always show dialog check box. Checking this box ensures that every time OSBooster is launched this configuration screen is shown. If it is left unchecked (and a valid application has been chosen) OSBooster will launch your chosen application as soon as it has finished loading extensions and set the correct display mode. Note, if you want to see the configuration screen again when this box is unchecked, you must hold down the backspace key as the last few extensions are loading. (This is true regardless of the key used to invoke OSBooster in the first place.)
